Scott’s All*Stars went 2-1 Oct. 26 to finish second for the CASA Fall League in Augusta.
According to All*Stars coach Marcus Scott IV, the team entered as the No. 5 seed. In their first game, the All*Stars beat Team Power, 57-52. Team Power beat the All*Stars in last year’s championship game.
In their second game, the All*Stars topped the No. 1-ranked team, South Carolina Hawks, 73-63.
Due to a forfeit, the team played in the championship game right after the semifinals. The All*Stars lost the title game, 77-60, to Georgia Athletic Club.
“I am proud of the progress our boys made this fall,” All*Stars coach Marcus Scott said. “We lost to a solid team that was well-rested. We played hard, and that is all I can ask of my team.” Between games, the All*Stars toured Paine College and met head men’s basketball coach Jimmy Link. He told them about the importance of academics.
“One of the things we are doing this year along with visiting colleges is talking to college coaches,” Scott said. “Since most of our kids are going to high school next year and plan to play college basketball, understanding what college coaches are looking for is important.”
