First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys soccer team and the squads of Bradwell Institute all scored wins this past week.
The FPCA boys were set to play Tattnall Square Academy when they received a last-minute call that the field was soaked and the game would have to be rescheduled. Highlander soccer coach Tom Sukaratana said he quickly called Central Fellowship and was able to put together a makeup game that was previously postponed by weather.
The FPCA boys trekked to Macon, where the Highlanders belted out a 7-0 shutout in their first game of the season.
The coach said Clark Sukaratana and Garrett Thornton paced the boys, scoring two goals each.
The FPCA boys and girls soccer teams start region play Tuesday, when they host Memorial Day. The girls will take the field at 3 p.m. at James Brown Park instead of the school’s field because of lighting.

Tigers
Friday night, at Olvey Field the Bradwell Tigers got a late start when officials ran late. Once action was under way, the Lady Tigers struck pay dirt, earning a 7-2 Region 3-AAAAA win against Jenkins.
Lady Tigers Ashley Howell, Sarah Wells and Leitia Leiataua scored two goals each and Ashley Riles popped in another for the 7-2 win. The girls improve their record to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the region.
The Tiger boys took to the field afterward and never gave the Warriors a chance, shutting them out 8-0. The boys also have a 3-2 overall record and 2-0 region mark.
The Tiger soccer teams visit Windsor Forest on Tuesday for another region matchup. The girls play at 5 p.m. and the boys follow.

The Panthers
Liberty hosted South Effingham Friday night when the Lady Panthers trailed 4-0 at the half. During intermission Lady Panther soccer coach Jarvis McArthur told his girls the score was not indicative of how well they were playing. The Liberty girls have a young squad and the coach said he is pleased that everyone was showing initiative and fighting until the end.
With 30 minutes left in regulation, the Lady Mustangs were up 6-0. The final score of the game was not posted by press time. The Panther boys played immediately after but the final score was not available.
