GARDEN CITY -- Bradwell Institute lost to Savannah High School, 42-29, in a wild Region 3-AAAAA football game Thursday night at Garden City Stadium.

The Tigers clawed back from a 20-point deficit and took a 21-20 lead to end the third quarter. But Bradwell quarterback Myrese Cobb threw three of his four interceptions during three consecutive drives in the fourth quarter, the last of which was returned for a 50-yard touchdown by Savannah High's James Kittles to give the Blue Jackets a 42-21 lead. Bradwell's Greg Howard returned the ensuing kickoff for a 60-yard touchdown.

The game turned ugly with 3 minutes, 54 seconds remaining in the third quarter when a Savannah High player landed several punches on a Bradwell player. Both teams' benches cleared, but Bradwell coach Jim Walsh Jr., Savannah High coach David Jackson and their assistants were able to restore order after a few minutes and keep the situation from escalating into a brawl. No players from either team were ejected, Walsh said.
