The Long County High School football team wraps up spring training tonight with a scrimmage.
The Blue Tide is coming off back-to-back 0-10 seasons, but the team was competitive last season against Bryan County, Southeast Bulloch and Brantley County.
Also last year, the team appeared to play hard in every game, which was a good reflection on the team and football coach Ron Flott, now in his second season at Long County High School.
In the revamped Region 2-AA, Long County will play host to Montgomery County in a preseason scrimmage Aug. 23. The regular season kicks off Aug. 31 against visiting Lanier County.  The Blue Tide also have home contests against Vidalia, Bryan County, Toombs County and McIntosh County Academy. Long County goes on the road to face Benedictine, Atkinson County, Bacon County, Jeff Davis and Metter.
Tonight’s scrimmage is at
6 p.m. in Veteran’s Stadium. The booster club will be selling chicken dinners as a fundraiser for the team.
“We’re inviting everyone to come on out and get a chicken dinner and watch the game,” Flott said.
