Blue Tide track and field team sends 10 to sectional meet

The Long County High School track and field team recently had a successful outing in the Region 2-AA meet April 15 and 17 in Savannah. The team will send 10 athletes to the Saturday’s sectional competition in Barnesville.  
In individual events at the region meet, the Blue Tide’s Fred Nelson won the long jump, while DeOnte’ Ellis took the top spot in the high jump.
For the LCHS girls’ team, Alyssa Mullins won the 800-meter run, Kaylee Camp was fourth in 3,200 run, and Derissa Crawford placed fourth in the 100 dash.  
In the team events, Kyana Calhoun, Brittany Smiley, Raven Rose and Crawford won the 4x100 race.  
Also qualifying for sectionals was the 4x400 team of Elena Walker, Tyronica Johnson, Smiley and Mullins, which took third place.
