The Hinesville Hurricanes made a key fumble late in Saturday’s game to fall, 14-12, to the Georgia Knights at Long Bell Stadium .
Hurricanes coach James Sharp said it was a heartbreaker, considering his team had a chance for the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter but fumbled on the 1-yard line.
After being tied at 6 at halftime, the Knights scored a touchdown and made the 2-point conversion to go up 14-6. Hurricane running back Tracey Lewis, who scored a touchdown in the first half, took the ball downfield again for a touchdown. The ’Canes lined up for two, but the Knights stopped them shy of the goal line.
