It’s amazing how a small team can pull together. Faith Baptist Christian Academy’s volleyball team is a good example.
Going into Tuesday’s action, FBCA, which has a roster of seven players, sported a 7-4 overall mark and 1-0 region record.
The Lady Crusaders started the season strong, going 4-1 in the Heritage Invitational on Aug. 16-17 in Buford and claiming the championship trophy.
After winning the invitational, FBCA added another win by beating Trinity Christian, 3-1, Aug. 22 in Statesboro.
The Lady Crusaders then traveled to Douglasville on Aug. 23-24 for the Eagle Invitational, where they lost to Kings Way Christian, 2-0, beat Shiloh Hills Christian, 2-0, and then lost to Peoples Baptist Academy in the quarterfinal game.
FBCA bounced back to beat First Presbyterian Christian Academy, 3-1, Monday.
The Lady Crusaders last won a state championship in 2010, when they recorded an 18-7-0 record, according to maxpreps.com. In 2011, they finished 28-3-0 and in 2012, they went 23-8-0.
