Lady Highlanders Coach Rosby Frasier had Friday night’s game against Edmund Burke Academy on her mind ever since FPCA lost to the Lady Spartans earlier in the season.

The mindset must’ve worked, as FPCA gained revenge in the second meeting disposing of EBA 61-42 at the St. James Sports Center.

"We had a strong transition game tonight which helped us tremendously. I knew we could beat this team since we lost by six the last time we played. Strengthening our transition game has been a major focus of practice this week," Frasier said.

Frasier also credited the team’s hustle and strong press. The Lady Highlanders defensive pressure and trapping allowed them to force turnovers and was the cog of their transition game.

"Emone Fisher had a great game for us defensively," Frasier said.

FPCA was in command of the game from the start. Brianna Reece put in eight points in the first quarter which helped the Lady Highlanders build an 18-7 lead at the end of the period. The Lady Highlanders kept the tempo and held a 31-14 lead at the half.

The Lady Spartans tried to rally in the third quarter, but the Highlanders were able to stave off any comeback and cruised until the end of the game.

Reece led all scorers with 25 points. Aliyah Wilson put in 12 points for the Lady Highlanders. Fisher finished with eight points.

"Tonight was a good win for us. Our press helped us score a lot of the back end of the press. We also did a better job on the boards, which we have been working on a lot during practice," Frasier said.

FPCA moves to 2-3 in GISA Region 2-AA. They will host Curtis Baptist Saturday afternoon. Tip off is 2:30 p.m.
