The Liberty County High School Lady Panthers soccer team pulled out a 2-1 win over Brunswick High in an away game Friday night.
Rachel Gordon scored the first Liberty goal off an assist from Mystery Ellert’s corner kick. Ellert scored the Lady Panthers’ second goal with an assist from Taylor Christner.
“Michelle Adams had a very strong game and put pressure on the Brunswick team. Defensively, Madison Ullom played her best game of the year,” Liberty assistant coach Ami Whilden said.
The coach said the girls’ defense played well as a unit, allowing only one shot on goal in the first half. Whilden said the defense held the Lady Pirates to three shots on goal in the second half.
“The whole team played much more aggressively and communicated more in this match,” she said.
The Lady Panthers are 2-7 overall and 1-5 in Region 2A-AAAA.
Scores for the Liberty boys’ game at Brunswick were not posted by press time.
The Bradwell Tigers also were on the road, playing Region 3-AAAAA foe Savannah Arts Academy on Friday night.
The Tiger boys lost, 8-3, to fall to 2-5-1 overall and 2-3 in the region.
The formerly undefeated Lady Tigers fell to Savannah Arts Academy, 2-0. Their record currently is 6-1-1 overall and 4-1 in the region.
