The Long County Recreation Department’s 7- and 8-year-old all-star team won second place in the District 2 Flea Football Championship Dec. 4 in Richmond Hill.
The boys lost the championship to a tough Appling County team, 18-8.
Players included Jasion Chandler, Ryder Dawson, Nathan Presley, Asher Pitts, Justin Thomas, Eli Wiggins, Payton Lumpkins, Xavier Harrison, Kyle Young, Kyle Cooper, Caden Ziegler, Grant Barber, Bryant Bleyman, Matthew Lindbom, Daniel Edwards, Jaleel Andrew, and Joseph Cammack. Coaches were Joey Edwards, Dean Cammack, Justin Thomas, and Tommy Holland.
“These boys had a great season, and we are extremely proud of them. I would also like to give a special thanks to our coaches; these coaches have made a difference in our recreation department and for that we are thankful and appreciate everything that you do,” LCRD Director Michelle Rogers said.
