After a disappointing loss last week, the Long County 10-and-under baseball team roared back on Saturday to defeat South Bryan County, 14-2, in the semifinals of the Georgia Recreation Parks Association District 2 Class C Baseball Tournament in Ludowici.
Big hits by Jake Cooper and Joseph Cammack lifted Long County and gave the win to pitcher Daniel Edwards. Blake Holland also performed well on the mound in relief of Edwards.
With the win, Long County advanced into the tourney final to face undefeated Pierce County. The Bears beat Long County, 5-0, last week, giving the home team its only loss in the double-elimination tournament. Long and Pierce played Monday; results will be in Friday’s Courier.
Also representing Long County were Zachary Swindell, Dewayne Rowe, Kaleb Jones, Cole Moss, Alex Ashley, Giovanni Jackson, Noah Kuhaneck and Luke Hendrix.
Tommy Holland, Joey Edwards, John Kuhaneck and Dean Cammack are the team’s coaches.
