Despite putting up three home runs, the Long County High School baseball team dropped a 10-9 nail-biter to Brantley County on Tuesday.
“We lost a heartbreaker; however, I was very proud of our players’ effort,” Blue Tide coach Brian Thomas said. “It was a very exciting game where Brantley County rallied from three runs down to take the win.”
Shawn Mills picked up the loss for the Blue Tide while Austin Middleton and Jonathan Flynn were the leading hitters.  Middleton went 3 for 4 at the plate while slamming two home runs and posting four RBIs. Flynn went 1 for 3 with a two-run homer.
With the loss in Ludowici, the Blue Tide fell to 8-17, while the Herons improved their record to 11-13.
The Tide played their final game of the season Thursday, taking on Vidalia High School (11-14) at home. It was senior night.
“We are very excited about senior night. This is the night that we can celebrate four years of hard work. It should be a very exciting event,” Thomas said.
