Long County hosting district tourney

The Long County Recreation Department will host the Georgia Recreation Parks Association District 2 Class C Baseball Tournament this week.
The 10-and-younger tournament runs Thursday through Saturday.  The Long County team will play its first game at 6 p.m. Thursday against Pierce County. If Long County wins, its next game would be at 6 p.m. Friday against Bryan County. The top two teams advance to the state tournament July 8-10 in Blakeley.
The Long County team consists of Jake Cooper, Blake Holland, Zachary Swindell, Dewayne Rowe, Kaleb Jones, Joseph Cammack, Cole Moss, Alex Ashley, Daniel Edwards, Giovanni Jackson, Noah Kuhaneck and Luke Hendrix. Tommy Holland, Joey Edwards, John Kuhaneck and Dean Cammack are the coaches.
“We have a good shot with this group of kids … our 10-and-under boys have already placed first in an all-star tournament,” LCRD Director Henry Strickland said.
