Former Liberty County High School basketball player Rion Brown seems to be returning to form. According to Sun Sentinel reporter Steve Gorten, Brown, a 6-foot-6 sophomore guard, was in a shooting slump for the past three weeks but put those troubles behind him with added time in the gym and a standout performance against Florida Atlantic University on Dec. 17.
The Sun Sentinel reported that Brown took it upon himself to arrive an hour early to practice every day for the past three weeks to work on shooting drills. By Dec. 17, Brown was back in form as the Hurricanes downed Florida Atlantic University 93-90 in double overtime at the Orange Bowl Classic.
According to the Hurricanes’ athletic website, Brown scored 15 points in 27 minutes of play, and made 4-of-5 shots from 3-point range. On Dec. 22, the ‘Canes beat Charlotte 76-61. Brown scored in the double digits with 11 points. Miami is 8-4 and hosts Appalachian State tonight.
