Despite leaving five players behind, Scott’s All*Stars went 2-2 in its first tournament March 22-24 in Charlotte, N.C.
The All*Stars were without the players due to academic performance. According to coach Marcus Scott, a player is required to maintain an 80 grade average; those who don’t are required to sit out two games. Students will have until progress report to bring up their averages.
“I am confident that their grades will increase,” Scott said. “For all three years of the program, our program GPA has been an 87.  Hopefully that will increase this year.”
Scott said that overall, the All*Stars had a good tournament. Two games were televised. The team also had record-setting performances by many players. Christian Bass averaged a double-double with points and rebounds, Marcus Scott V had seven 3-pointers in one game, and Jaylen Jackson scored a career-high 40 points in a game.
“I am proud of all the boys for their hard work and looking forward to a productive season,” coach Scott said.
