Bradwell’s Institute’s hopes for a state Class AAAAA baseball title were abruptly ended Friday afternoon by host Tift County.
The Blue Devils swept the best of three series by winning the first two games 13-0 and 8-0 in the first round of the state playoffs.
Blue Devils hurler Hayden Jones pitched a no-hitter in the first game and Bradwell managed only three hits in the second game, according to the Tifton Gazette.
The Tigers closed their diamond season 16-11 overall and 14-4 in Region 3-AAAAA. Bradwell was the third seed from the region.
This was the third straight season Bradwell advanced to the state playoffs only to be knocked out in the first round.
