Bradwell Institute’s baseball team made a statement Thursday, scoring 11 runs off 13 hits in their 11-3 victory at Glynn Academy.
The Region 3-AAAAA win could help the Tigers reach the playoffs, depending on the outcome of the remaining region games from this weekend. One game the Tigers were keeping an eye on, was scheduled for Saturday between Jenkins and Richmond Hill.
Against Glynn, BI pitcher Sage Sammons tossed a complete game for the win. He struck out five batters, walked two and gave up five hits and three runs.
Sammons also batted 4 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Ryan Desbiens was 2 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs. Stephen Felton was 1 for 4 including a double and one RBI. Brandon Woodard, Chris Nunn, Hunter Jackson and Maxwell Ashe each had one RBI.
The Tigers are 9-12 overall and 7-7 in the region. According to maxpreps.com as of Friday, Richmond Hill held first place in the region with an 11-2 record. Ware County’s region mark is 10-2 for second place. Effingham County is 10-3 in the region, while Glynn fell to 6-7 in the region for fifth place. Jenkins was listed at sixth at 5-7 in the region.
Richmond Hill was scheduled to play at Ware County Friday before playing at Jenkins Saturday. Effingham County was scheduled to play Saturday at Glynn Academy. Results were unavailable at press time.
The Tigers next play Tuesday at Camden County in a non-region game.
