Bradwell’s track teams sprinted to first place in the Region 3-AAAAA track finals Friday at BI.
For the boys, it was their sixth consecutive region championship. For the Lady Tigers, it was their first region title since 2006, according to track coach DeAndre Davis.
The BI boys tallied 174 points for the win; the girls totaled 160. Camden and Groves took second and third for boys and girls, respectively.
Earning the region highpoints awards were Anthony Holsendolph, Markell McKee and KeAndrea Ladson.
Several Tigers also qualified for the sectional meet in Tifton this weekend.
“They will compete this Saturday for a chance to compete in the state championships,” Davis said. “I am especially happy for the seniors. They wanted to be a part of the second class that won all year. We are losing a great deal of guys to graduation. This group is very special and will be missed. We have six guys returning.”
Davis added that the girls will lose several runners to graduation.
“But there will be a lot of talent left,” he said. “The girls will have a good chance to repeat. After finishing second the last five years, the ladies were excited about finally winning. The boys and the girls worked extremely hard in the off-season. That work paid off. The kids challenged each other, and held one another accountable. Coach (Brian) Williams got his first championship in his first year.”
