Long County’s soccer teams continued their winning ways Tuesday, knocking off the Groves teams.
Playing in Ludowici, the Lady Tide destroyed the Lady Rebels 10-0. The Long County defense was dominant. And the offense again showed balance with four players scoring.

Carolin Krause led all scorers with four goals. Nakia Hunter put in three. Katie Estill added two. And Harley Dawson chipped in one.
Coach Sabrina Caines said the Lady Tide played well.
“We are slowly learning to communicate and work with each other on the field,” Caines said. “Passing has definitely improved and that has been key. We are hoping to continue this momentum going into the rest of the season.”

With the Region 2-AA win, the Ludowici girls improved their overall record to 8-2 and their region mark to 7-1. Groves fell to 2-6-1 overall. Currently the Lady Tide is ranked as the No. 8 AA team in the state, according to Eurosportscoreboard.com.

In the late game, the Blue Tide also played well. They beat the Rebels 6-2 to remain unbeaten. Currently the Blue Tide have a 10-0 overall record and an 8-0 region mark. The Blue Tide is still holding onto the No. 3 spot in the state in this week’s power poll. With the loss, Groves fell to 5-4 overall.

Friday, Long County’s teams were scheduled to play Vidalia, but bad weather prompted cancellations.
Tuesday, the Tide teams are back home, taking on Brantley County in non-region action. The girls begin at 5 p.m. with the boys following at 7. That game will also be Senior Night, when Long County recognizes graduating seniors.
