Liberty County High School alumnus Raekwon McMillan (5) has been named one of the top-25 emerging linebackers in college football by sportsonearth.com.

Sports on Earth writer Matt Brown published his pick for the top-25 linebackers entering the 2015 season, and former Liberty County High School football player Raekwon McMillan made the cut.

Brown’s picks were published May 22 online at sportsonearth.com.

The top 25 included pass rushers who play outside in 3-4 schemes, versatile 4-3 outside linebackers, linebackers who can stuff the run and who can slide into the defensive-back or running-back slot as needed.

McMillan, who is preparing for a starting role as an incoming sophomore at Ohio State University, was No. 24 on the list.

“The presence of senior Curtis Grant prevented McMillan from starting any games, but he had a stellar freshman season, anyway, with 54 tackles, 6½ tackles for loss and an interception for a touchdown,” Brown reported. “Now, he’ll slide into the starting job at middle linebacker, surrounded by stars in Darron Lee and Joshua Perry.”

Off the field, McMillan was one of 14 financial majors who spent four hours last Tuesday shadowing experts at the offices of JP Morgan Chase & Company, according to a report posted on elevenwarriors.com.

Ohio State opens the season Sept. 7 at Virginia Tech.
