A new local track team is placing well in statewide competitions.
The District 9 Track Club, coached by former Bradwell Institute track standout Jammorris Hill, with assistance from current BI cross-country coach Brian Williams, has one meet under its belt and is preparing for more summer events.

The team competed in the USA Track and Field Georgia Association Area A Meet June 6 at Marietta High School, which drew 947 athletes. According to Williams, several athletes from the District 9 team came home with awards. Medals were given to athletes who placed in the top eight in their age categories.

Qualified athletes advanced to this weekend’s Georgia Association Junior Olympic Championships at Mill Creek High School in Hoschton.
From there, finalists will advance to the Region 4 Championships on July 8-12 at the same location.
The team is looking to place well and score qualifying points for the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics Championships set for July 27 through Aug. 2 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
