New WNBA Atlanta Dream searches for talent

The WNBA's newest team is looking for that "hidden gem."
The Atlanta Dream, Atlanta's newest professional franchise will have an open tryout. Players from all over will have the opportunity to earn a spot on the 2008 roster. Tryouts will Tuesday, April 15, at Suwanee Sports Academy.  Only the first 500 completed applications and payments received by the Atlanta Dream will be confirmed to compete. Head coach/GM Marynell Meadors and other members of the Atlanta Dream coaching staff evaluate the talent.    
Interested participants must download the registration form from the Dream's Web site www.AtlantaDream.net.  
The registration fee is $75. All applications and payments must be received by April 11.
To be eligible to tryout, all applicants must:
1. Be female and at least 22 years old or will have your 22nd birthday during the 2008 calendar year or
2. Graduated or is to graduate from a 4-year college or university during 2008 and has no remaining intercollegiate eligibility.
International players can tryout at any age.
Confirmed participants will receive an information packet via e-mail with additional instructions. If more than 500 applications are received, the Atlanta Dream will provide refunds.
The Atlanta Dream was officially announced as the 14th team in the WNBA on Oct. 17. The Dream will begin play in May at Philips Arena, joining the Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Detroit Shock, Indiana Fever, New York Liberty and Washington Mystics in the Eastern Conference. The team will tip-off in its first regular season home game on May 23 against defending Eastern Conference champions the Detroit Shock.
