Kicking their way to an overall 8-3-1 record and a Region 3-AAA mark of 6-2, the Liberty County High School boys soccer team is looking good as the players prepare for the season’s two final region games.

Last weekend, before spring break, the boys won at home Friday night against Thomson, 4-3, and defeated West Laurens, 7-2, on the road Saturday.

According to coach Bryant Durham, the boys were up 4-1 against the Bulldogs on Friday, but with nine minutes left in the match, the Bulldogs struck twice, making it a 4-3 game.

The coach said they held on for the win and had a better game against West Laurens.

"We exploded on offense the second half, scoring five goals," he said of Saturday’s game against the Raiders.

Durham said he is happy for his team, which, he said, has done a great job this season.

The boys traveled to Baldwin on Saturday to take on the Braves for the second time this season. The Braves beat the Liberty boys 1-3 at home March 19.

On Tuesday, the Panthers host Richmond Hill for their second meeting this season. LCHS is looking to avenge a 0-10 loss.

Tuesday’s game is at 7 p.m.
