Panthers down Thomson, head to South Carolina tournament

The Panther boys beat Thomson 83-66 Saturday during the boys basketball game at Liberty County.
The game saw the return of Davion Mitchell who had been out with a foot injury for a few weeks.

This is the fourth straight win for the Panthers, who will play at the Carolina Challenge Showcase in Columbia later today against Richland Northeast.
In the win against Thomson, senior Jaalon Frazier was named player of the game for hitting a double-double. He scored 12 points, got 17 rebounds and also had two assists and two steals. Will Richardson led the scoring with 24 points, Tyreon Freeman had 22 points. Mitchell scored 14.

The Liberty boys did better at the free throw line, shooting 74 percent and hitting 20 of 27.
Friday, the Panthers beat Brantley County 63-41. Richardson had 30 points in the Region 2-AAA game. He also nabbed 15 rebounds, five assist and two steals.

The boys are 7-4 overall and 2-1 in region play.
Liberty’s Lady Panthers went 1-1 this past weekend. They lost 44-43 against Brantley County but beat Thomson 42-38.
The Lady Panthers are 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the region. Their next game is Jan. 6, hosting Pierce County in a region game that starts at 7 p.m.
