Panthers to scrimmage Buccaneers tomorrow night

Liberty County High School is getting ready for their football season by hosting McIntosh Academy Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Last year the Panthers went 9-4 making it to the third round of the state playoffs before losing to Calhoun.

Last year the Panthers’ offense produced 1,169 passing yards for 12 touchdowns. They rushed for 3,400 yards and 33 touchdowns.

Senior Kris Coleman lead the team last year with 197 carries for 1,787 yards and 19 touchdowns. Coleman also had 19 receptions for 331 yards and 4 touchdowns last season. Incoming junior Dionte Bowens had 550 yards on 75 carries and six touchdowns.

Coleman and seniors Gage Sills and Jaleel Gilbert are set to be in the quarterback rotation this year. Gilbert led the team in reception last season with 20 catches for 473 yards and 4 touchdowns.

The defense will be led by incoming juniors Markel Johnson and Nolan Dickens. The two incoming juniors had 114 and 103 total tackles respectively.

The Buccaneers had a 3-6 season last year and are under new head coach Tony Glazer.

Glazer was the defensive coordinator at Liberty County High last year.
