Bradwell Institute hosted Brunswick High Friday night for Region 3-AAAAA games.
The Lady Tigers fell 53-35. The boys lost 62-44.

The Lady Pirates swarmed the Bradwell girls, applying pressure and nabbing steals.
“That is how Brunswick plays,” Lady Tiger basketball coach Faye Baker explained. “They are a strong, scrambling and aggressive team and apply a lot of pressure, and if you don’t handle the pressure and try and dribble through it, you have turnovers. We didn’t do a good job of passing through it.”

The Lady Tigers managed to cut the margin to 8 points in the fourth quarter but the coach said turnovers reared again. Brunswick went back to knocking in the takeaways for the win.

The Brunswick girls returned a lot of veterans from last year’s team that won the Region 3-AAAAA title and made it to the second round of state.

The Lady Pirates are currently 14-1 overall and 5-1 in the region.
The Lady Tigers are 8-7 overall and 1-4 in the region.

The Tigers took the court afterward, falling to the Pirates 62-44. The Tigers are 5-9 overall and 1-4 in region action.

The Pirate boys are last year’s region champions and class AAAAA state champs.

The Bradwell teams were to play at Camden County Saturday and will host Glynn Academy Tuesday beginning at 7:30 p.m.
