The Long County Blue Tide flag football team has had a very successful three-year run in their program history. The 2023 season was capped on Tuesday, Feb 13 as two of their star players – three-year starting quarterback Kyleigh Sizemore and running back/wide receiver Makinzie Moody - were named to the Division 1 all-state team.
Sizemore has been the starting quarterback since the flag football team was founded while Moody has been the leading running back for the team since the 2022 season.
In 2023, Sizemore, who just committed to play flag football at LaGrange College, threw for 4,396 yards and 58 touchdowns. According to head coach Paul Austin, her near-4,400 yards ranks number 6 in the nation, but actually number 1 in the nation if you base it off how many games the team played this year.
Moody was the leading receiver for the Tide with 1,436 yards and 28 touchdowns. Those yards ranked number 1 in the state.
In her career, Sizemore has thrown for over 8,000 yards and 120 touchdowns. She helped the Tide to three straight second place finishes in the area standings and two quarterfinals and one second round appearance.
Moody has 2,547 receiving yards and 49 touchdowns for her two-year career. She will return for her senior season in 2024.
