Splash Smash takedown Lakeview 4-0
Long County E-Sports

LUDOWICI -- The Long County Super Smash Bros. team earned their first regular season win when they took on the Lakeview Academy Lions on Wednesday, March 9. Splash Smash took out the Lions four games to none.

Patrick McClennon has proven to be one of Splash Smash’s most valuable fighters. In Week 1, he was the only player to win a set and this week, he started off the day strong.

Using Ludwig, a Bowser Jr. variant and character from the Super Mario franchise, McClennon walked through with a 1-0 victory in Game 1, defeating Wario also from the Super Mario franchise. In Game 2, McClennon was gifted with a self-destruct for the first stock and cruised to the 2-0 victory.

In Set 2, Jimmy Barreto used his Isabelle main to take on Terry, a character from the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters franchises. He took a slim 1-0 win in Game 1 as he went down on the first stock.

He came back to record three of the next four stocks to get the win in the first game. Barreto learned from his mistakes in Game 2, winning handily 2-0.

With the win already in hand, the teams decided to play an unnecessary third set. Ben Stokes got his first regular season action, using his main Steve from the Minecraft franchise.

He cruised to an easy win over his opponent, using R.O.B., a classic Nintendo video game peripheral from the 1980s. Stokes won 2-0 in Game 1 and, after a self-destruct, won Game 2.

Splash Smash are now 2-1 on the season after last week’s game was labeled as a forfeit win. They will take on Forsyth Central next Wednesday, March 16.
