Bradwell’s Jahdai Prince
Bradwell’s Jahdai Prince (7) gets control of the ball and heads upfield against Locust Grove in the Tigers’ Class AAAAA state soccer playoff first-round rout.

The Bradwell Institute Tigers boys soccer team is headed back to metro Atlanta.

The Tigers blanked Tucker 1-0 Tuesday night at Tucker, improving to 13-4-2 and earning a spot in the Elite Eight.

Bradwell will play Centennial, a 3-0 winner over Loganville, on April 25.

The Tigers scored four second-half goals and rolled to a 6-1 win over Locust Grove in the first round of the state soccer playoffs last Wednesday.

Steven Hawkins tallied four goals, and the Tigers broke the game open with four goals in a span of less than 20 minutes in the second half.

Hawkins got the Tigers on the board 10 minutes into the first half, taking a pass down the right sideline, outracing a Locust Grove defender, and blasting a shot from just inside the top corner of the 18-yard box inside the left post.

Hawkins later took a through ball from Jahdai Prince and scored from just inside the top of the box for a 2-0 lead with 23:20 to go in the first half.

Locust Grove’s Casey Newman made it 2-1 on a left-footed half-volley, following a Wildcat throw-in deep in Bradwell territory, with 9:25 to go in the first half.

Locust Grove carried the play for much of the rest of the half, but Tristan Ximello-Casillas converted a Hawkins crossing pass for a goal and a 3-1 lead. Two minutes later, Prince broke free, drawing the Locust Grove keeper out, and tapped a pass to an open Hawkins, who scored easily with a wide open net.

With less than 15 minutes left, Hawkins, with a defender on his right shoulder, muscled in a shot from 12 yards out .

Freshman Taeden Ramirez added a goal for the Tigers.
