The Griffin Lady Bears overcame a halftime deficit to hand the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers just their second loss of the season, a 49-44 setback Wednesday at the Big Blue Classic held at Liberty County High School.

Taniyah Bowman led Bradwell with 13 points, while Bailey Gilmore and Parris Parham each had 11 points. Parham, who recorded 11 rebounds, finished with a double-double, while Ja’Nya Bush also pulled down 11 rebounds.

Griffin, the No. 1-ranked girls team in Class AAAA, improved to 11-1 with the win. Bradwell fell to 9-2.

Griffin’s boys upended Bradwell 54-48 in the nightcap.

Tahshaun Frazier led BI with 15 points, and Christopher Perry chipped in 11 points. But the Tigers shot just 29% (16-of-55) from the field.

Frazier also had five steals and four blocks.

The Bradwell girls play Claxton at 6:30 tonight at LCHS and the Tigers boys face Camden at 8 p.m.
