OOLER — Oglethorpe Speedway Park has announced that Darryl Courson, formerly of Golden Isles Speedway, will be joining the staff at OSP as general manager.
Courson has a background in racing, not only as a facility manager but as a racer and series director. Courson said he has always had a love for racing.
“We all have racing in our blood,” he said, referring to his wife, Amy, and three children.
The 2017 season kicks off with the annual Spring Motorcycle races March 9-11, followed by the 4th annual Emory Stone Spring Race for a Cure March 23-25. Monster trucks return to OSP March 31-April 2.
The 2017 points season begins April 14, with races every other week for stock cars until the season championship on Sept. 1. The change to racing every other week for 2017 is an effort to save money for the racers and give them more time with family during the summer, an OSP news release said.
