Three Lady Panthers traveled to Albany last weekend and two returned bearing medals after finishing sixth and eighth in the state in the long jump.

Track coach Daryl McCulley congratulated Niesha Walthour and Jana Jones on their finishes and said both athletes also were among the top 40 throwers/long jumpers in Georgia.

"I am looking forward to seeing what they will do next year," assistant coach Nathan Mims said. "Niesha and Jana lost to seniors who will not be back next year so it looks great for both of them."

Mims said the two girls will participate in summer track leagues and both athletes promised to come back next year and take state titles.
