Does your business shine?

This is the last week that we can accept nominations for the new Win-dex Awards.
The awards are the new recognition program for businesses throughout the county. Keep Liberty County Beautiful is partnering with the Chamber of Commerce and the local master gardeners to recognize businesses that go that extra mile to make their properties attractive and inviting.
We are accepting nominations for the 2008 first quarter winners through March 31. Each quarter's winners will be announced the next month. Winners will receive attractive plaques as well as signs noting the award to display at their businesses until the next winners are announced. The Chamber has some additional prizes to give each quarter as well.
Some of the questions I have been asked are:
Why is it named the Win-dex Award?
We wanted a unique name that would mean something and be memorable over time. Our thought was that a winning business would be so clean, so attractive, so litter-free that it would have a streak-free shine. For those of us who have cleaned windows, counters and -- you name it -- we know what makes that streak-free shine.
Does the business have to be a Chamber member?
No. Of course, we hope all businesses realize the value of participating in the Chamber, but for this award, we want to make sure any business that makes that extra effort to look their very best can be recognized.

How many awards will be given out?
Each quarter we will give out two; one for a large business and one for a small business. We wanted to make sure that everyone has a chance for winning.

Can I nominate my own workplace?
Sure. If you own or work at a business that really makes the effort to look as attractive outside as possible, then let the world know. We will not announce the names of those nominating candidates.

How do I nominate a business?
Nomination forms are available at my office at Environmental Health and the Chamber office (368-4445) on Oglethorpe Hwy. You can also email me at klcb@libertycountyga.com for a form. A nomination form is also in the newspaper today that can be mailed to PO Box 829, Hinesville, GA 31310 or faxed to 368-4777. And if you wish, you can email your information directly. Be sure to include your name and contact information, the name of the business and its location and why you think this business is worthy of award. Just remember that your reason for nominating a business is a crucial part of the judging, so make sure you fully explain why this business deserves this recognition.
