Guardians in Action Inc. celebrated its first anniversary over the weekend at Club Stewart. More than 100 guests attended a banquet, where Hinesville Mayor Jim Thomas, Smiley Elementary Principal David Edwards, Warrior Transition Unit Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Rosemarie Deck and Long County Family Connection Executive Director William Miller spoke to the crowd, and Capt. Lyde Andrews offered an invocation.
Guardians in Action is a nonprofit organization whose volunteer members help feed the hungry and homeless, participate in community activities and mentor area youth.
“It was a delight to see city officials, community members and friends and family come out and support our organization,” said Guardians in Action founder and President Sgt. 1st Class  Ernest Davis, who also is a platoon sergeant with the Warrior Transition Unit Battalion. “This event was to supply the people with more information about who GIA is and what we have done in the community. We hope everyone who attended had a good time and will look for GIA ‘in action’ throughout Liberty and Long counties.”
