ATLANTA — This holiday season, people can give the gift of a college education by contributing to a 529 college savings plan.
Georgia’s 529 college savings plan, the Path2College 529 Plan, may be opened with as little as $25.
After the donor has opened the new account and made a contribution, or contributed to an existing plan, they can download a gift of education certificate and present it to the loved one.
Click on the “Give a Gift” section on the website, www.Path2College529.com, for additional information.
Path2College 529 Plan has created a program that allows family and friends to contribute toward a child’s college education.
The Path2College’s e-gifting program allows account holders to send an email inviting grandparents, aunts, uncles and other gift-givers to contribute to a child’s existing college savings account.
The email contains a link that, when clicked on, takes the family member or friend to a secure web page, where he or she can make an electronic contribution from a checking or savings account to make a gift of $25 or more to an existing account.
