The Pentagon today announced that Maj. Gen. John M. Murray will replace Maj. Gen. Robert "Abe" Abrams as commander of the 3rd Infantry Division on Fort Stewart.
Murray is now director of force management, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C
It was not announced when the change of command will take place.
Abrams is currently deployed to Afghanistan with the 3rd ID's headquarters unit. He is expected to redeploy this summer.
