Incumbent Liberty County School Board member Charlie Frasier has won re-election, according to Ella Golden, supervisor of Liberty County elections.
The results are still unofficial until Friday for all local races, including for the District 2 seat where Frasier was challenged by Carolyn Smith Carter. Frasier earned 50.3 percent of the vote. Election officials at first thought the results would prompt a runoff, since Smith Carter garnered more than 49 percent and Frasier didn’t get 51 percent.
State officials, however, have since said the runoff would not be needed, according to Golden.
Frasier has had six years on the board and said he is excited to be continuing.
“This is a great day in history for me and for America as well. I’d like to thanks all the people who voted for me,” Frasier said.
