Wreaths for Warriors Walk seeks help
1114-W4WW
Editor, On Thursday, our great nation honored all of our veterans with parades and ceremonies around the country. I hope everyone thanked them for their service to our country.
It is hard to believe that there are only seven more weeks until the end of 2010. I’m not sure where time goes. As we joyously greet and eagerly await the return of the 3rd Infantry Division soldiers from another deployment, we think of those who will not return and who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in defending our great country.
At noon on Dec. 11 on Fort Stewart’s Cottrell Field, we will host the fourth annual Wreaths for Warriors Walk ceremony. Presently, we have 434 trees planted at Warriors Walk in honor of our fallen soldiers, but that number will rise next week to 436 as we honor two more fallen soldiers.
The goal of Wreaths for Warriors Walk is to place a holiday wreath at the base of each and every tree that lines the walk. We need your help to make this year a success. There is still time for you to sponsor a wreath or to contribute to the ceremony. Wreaths are $15 each.
You can sponsor a wreath in two ways:
• Send a check, made out to Wreaths for Warriors Walk, to:

P.O. Box 3533

• Contribute online using PayPal by going to www.w4ww.org or the W4WW Facebook page, www.facebook.com/wreaths4warriorswalk. Click on “donate now.”
We also need you to get the word out. Please tell your family and friends, tell your church members, tell your school mates, tell your support groups, just please help get the word out. W4WW is also a great fundraising opportunity for your church, school or group. For more information, please send an e-mail to wreaths4warriorswalk@yahoo.com
If you would like to get involved this year, we are having our meetings at  the Army Education Center, building 100, room 108. The remaining meeting dates are Nov. 17, Nov. 23, Dec. 1 and Dec 8. Each meeting begins at 5 p.m.
Please help us make the ceremony this year as successful as last year’s. Check out the websites, look at some of the pictures of our fallen soldiers, hear the specially recorded song “400 Names at Warriors Walk” and watch the video, which is set to the music of Tim McGraw’s song “If You’re Reading This.”
Share the word and come out and join us at noon on Dec. 11. The ceremony will go on rain or shine.
Thank you for your time and support.
