LCRD summer
Registration is ongoing at the Liberty County Recreation Department for summer programs, including day camp, swim lessons, swim team, sports camps, tae kwon do, golf, tennis, crafts, basketball, track and field, wrestling, weight training and adventure trips.  
Registration is accepted at the LCRD office at the Shuman Recreation Center at James Brown Park from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday. Registration will continue until all slots are filled on a first-come basis. On-line registration is available at lcrd.net

Summer camp
St. James summer day camp is taking registration at the St James Center in Holmestown.
The camp is open to all children ages 5-13. Activities include swimming, field events, field trips and outreach with other programs in the community.
The camp is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m., but closed on all holidays.
The camp costs $50 a week and includes lunch.

Cherokee Rose
Golfers can enjoy 18 holes plus cart use for $18 plus tax. Pool memberships are available. For more information, call Cherokee Rose Country Club at 876-5503.

Summer Slam
The 2007 Summer Slam will be June 30 at Miller Park and July 1 at Salter Field.
June 30 is Kids Day. Events start at 10 a.m. and are free. Events include basketball, softball, a motorcycle show and more.
There are prizes and a Lowcountry boil.
July 1 is the main event and features a car show, rim contest and a music contest. Gates open at 2 p.m. and admission is $5.
More than 30,000 people are expected throughout the event.

Bass Club
The Liberty County Bass Club meets monthly and takes periodic trips. You do not have to have a boat to join. The club is a member of the Georgia Bass Federation and FLW. For more information, call  club president P.J. Schneider at 271-1701 or club vice president Keith Causeway at 492-5353.

YMCA
An adult soccer tournament for ages 16 and older starts at 10 a.m. July 7. Registration is open until July 2.
The YMCA hosts a swim meet on July 14 and a championship swim meet on July 28.
From July 9-13, the YMCA hosts a guard start/junior lifeguarding camp for ages 11-14
