cheerleading
Registration for youth football and cheerleading at the Liberty County Recreation Department is Aug. 1-21. Football is for ages 7-14 and cheerleading is for ages 7-12. Football age divisions are: flag football for 7-8-year-olds and tackle football for 9-10-, 11-12- and 13-14-year-olds. Weight restrictions apply to the 9-10- and 11-12-year-old divisions. Cost is $15 per child for flag football and $10 per child for all other divisions. All equipment is provided except pants for tackle football players. Teams will be formed in Midway, Walthourville, Riceboro and Gum Branch, if there are enough participants. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. The deadline to register is Aug. 21. LCRD soccer
Registration for youth soccer at the Liberty County Recreation Department will be conducted August 1-21. This program is for ages 4-17, as of August 1, 2009. The fee is $18 per child. Games will be played on weekday evenings at James A. Brown Park, starting in late September. Registration deadline is August 21. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. LCRD baseball
Registration for Fall Baseball & Softball at the Liberty County Recreation Department will be conducted August 1-28. Age divisions are 7-9 Machine Pitch and 10-12 Live Pitch leagues. The age cut-off date is May 1, 2009. The program will be conducted in September and October. The fee is $45 per child. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. Soccer registration
The YMCA is registering for its fall soccer program. Children ages 3-15 are eligible. Practice begins Saturday, Sept. 12. Registration ends when the teams are full. Volunteer coaches are needed. For more information, call Richard Somerville at 368-9622.
Cheerleading Academy to hold classes, tryouts
Registrations are being accepted for cheerleading classes at Inspirational Cheerleading Academy for children ages 6-18. Classes begin Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9-12 p.m. behind the VFW on Highway 196. There are 15 openings for beginners, intermediate class has 15 slots and the advanced class can accommodate 20. Registration fees are $50 per person and the class fees are $55 per week per person.
The academy’s All-Star Competitive Cheerleading Squad try-outs for children ages 8-18 are at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29. The location has not yet been determined.
