LCRD spring

Track and field

Registration runs through Friday at the Liberty County Recreation Department for track and field. This program is for Liberty County residents who turn 7 and do not turn 15 prior to Jan. 1, 2012. Age divisions are 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14 for boys and girls. Practices start in early March and meets begin in March. Cost is $20 per participant. A birth certificate or other age verification must be on file at LCRD for all participants.

 

Volleyball

Registration will be accepted through Friday at the LCRD for youth and adult volleyball. The youth program is for ages 10-15 and the fee is $20 per child. Ages 16 and older may participate in the adult program. The cost for adult teams is $150 per team. Practices will start in early March.

 

Soccer

Registration will be accepted through Friday at the LCRD for youth soccer. Play is for Liberty County residents who are between the ages of 4 and 14 as of Aug. 1. The fee is $30 per child for ages 4-7 and $45 per child 8-14. Play will start in early March.

Online registration for all the programs is available at www.lcrd.net, or call 448-LCRD (5273) for information. Volunteers are needed for coaches, and other support personnel are needed for all youth teams.

Fundraiser

in Ludowici

 

The second annual Taylor McCartney Dice Run will be Feb. 19 in Ludowici to help Josh Berry, a Long County High School student who has acute leukemia. The run costs $20 for the first roll and $5 for each additional roll. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the high school parking lot, with the first bikes pulling out at 11 a.m. There will be door prizes, a 50-50 drawing and prizes for the best and worst roll. Long County Recreation Department update

The Long County Recreation Department currently is accepting applications for baseball, softball and T-ball. Age groups range from 4 to 14. Applications can be picked up and dropped off at the recreation department’s office Monday-Friday between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. or at the drop box after work hours. The application deadline for signing up is Feb. 28. The recreation department is in need of coaches and there will be a mandatory coaches clinic Feb. 19 at Long County High School. All coaches must attend this training. On March 4-5, there will be evaluations for baseball and softball. For times, call the recreation department or come by the office. There is no evaluation for T-ball. The entry fee for children to participate is $25 or $35 if the payment is late. Call 545-9112.

 

YMCA

aerobic-thon

The Liberty County YMCA will host an aerobic-thon from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5. Free and open to the public, donations will be accepted for the Y’s Priceless Gifts campaign. It provides scholarships to needy families for YMCA programs and memberships. For more information call, 368-9622.
