Taekwondo/martial arts classes

 

The St. James Sports Center will offer taekwondo and martial arts classes in February. Registration is under way and is open to all ages. Classes will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays. YMCA Ultimate
Fitness Challenge

 

The Liberty County YMCA is taking registration for the Ultimate Fitness Challenge, which begins Jan. 24. It is open to everyone ages 16 and older. Available time slots are 5:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 368-9622.

Bowling tournament is set for Feb. 12

 

There will be a nine-pin no-tap Sweetheart Scotch doubles tournament from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 at Marne Lanes. Entry Fee $20 per each man-woman team. Sign-up begins one hour before each shift. For more information, call 767-4866.

 

Chain baseball team
meeting is Jan. 30

 

The Chain Baseball Academy will meet at 4 p.m. Jan. 30, at the Academy to discuss plans for the spring and summer. All players ages 10-18 interested in trying out for a Chain team are encouraged to attend. Topics will include budget, schedule and coaches. The Rebels Clash of Champions

 

The Rebels Clash of Champions tournament is scheduled for March 19-20 at the St. James Sports Center in Holmestown. The tournament is for 15U boys teams only and players must be 15 to participate. All teams must have a dark and a light uniform. Registration is $150 per team and registration closes March 11. First- and second-place medals will be awarded and each team is guaranteed two games in the double-elimination tournament.

Tip-off is at 9 a.m. March 19. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for students. For more information, call 980-4559. The tournament is directed by Ernie Walthour and David Linderman.

 

All-Stars tryouts

 

Scott’s All-Stars, an academic/AAU basketball program, will have try-outs Feb. 12-13 at the YMCA in Hinesville. On Feb. 19-20 tryouts also will be held at Jenkins High School at 3 p.m. The program will field two elementary teams, one middle school team and one high school team for a maximum of 48 kids. Hinesville Soccer Association

 

The Hinesville Soccer Association is holding spring soccer registration on Friday, Jan. 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Shuman Recreation Center at James Brown Park. Registration is open for age groups 4-and-under and 19-and-under boys and girls.

Coastal Ga. Soccer registration

 

The Coastal Georgia Soccer Association is accepting team registrations. The fee for 4U-8U players is $70 to register plus a $36.50 uniform fee, which applies to new 6U and 8U players only. The registration fee for 10U and 14U players is $85, plus $36.50 for a youth uniform or $38.50 for adult sizes.

Association officials plan to start a 14U team in Midway for Fort Stewart and Midway area players. Practices will be in Midway and games will be on weekends in Savannah.

Cat Walk entries due

 

Bradwell Institute is building a "Cat Walk of Fame" featuring former BI athletes who played sports at the college level. Tiger Coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes and are gathering names and photos, but they’d like more.

To be eligible for the Cat Walk of Fame, the former athlete must have graduated from Bradwell Institute, played sports at the college level and graduated from college. To submit names or photos, e-mail them to jmiller@liberty.k12.ga.us or mail them, along with a self-addressed and stamped envelope for return, to:
