Bradwell softball tryouts Aug. 3

 

Open tryouts for the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers softball team will be Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Bradwell Lady Tigers softball field. Girls in the grades 8-12 are eligible. A sports physical is required. For more information, call Coach Sharyl Eastlake at 369-8384 or 977-2016 or 977-2015.

The Department of the Army Child Youth and School Services is having tackle football, cheerleading and fall soccer registration through Aug. 10, or until all slots are filled. Register at the Fort Stewart CYSS, building 443, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, or 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday.

Football is open to ages 7-13. Fee is $60. Cheerleading is open to ages 6-13. Fee is $30. Soccer is open to ages 4-13. Fee is $30.

The fee is waived if one or more parents are deployed. The fee is waived for the first child and there is a 10 percent discount for each additional child of volunteer coaches.

All participants must have a current physical on file. For more information, call 767-4371.

Lady Panther softball tryouts

The Liberty County Lady Panthers softball team will have tryouts at 6 p.m. Aug. 3, at the school’s softball field. School physical forms must be completed to be eligible for the tryouts. For more information, call coach Jerome Standard at 312-0331.

Operation Homefront
financial assistance

Operation Homefront is helping financially strapped, military families afford sports team registrations, cultural and art classes, etc., for children of Georgia service members. For more information, call Christina Anthony or Ashley Carpenter at 368-9622.

Team Hinesville seeks
sponsors

Team Hinesville’s weightlifting team is seeking donations for upcoming trips to the AAU Junior Olympics and world and national qualifiers.

World-ranked Olympic weightlifter Jenna Bussard, coach of Team Hinesville, said participants pay their own expenses so she is always eager to accept donations to help Team Hinesville. If you would like to make a donation, call her at 429-0931.

Soccer registration open

The YMCA is registering for its fall soccer program. Children ages 3-15 are eligible. Practice begins Saturday, Sept. 12. Registration ends when the teams are full. Volunteer coaches are needed. For more information, call Richard Somerville at 368-9622.

BI discount cards available

The Bradwell Tigers football squad has the 2009-10 discount cards available for sale for $10. The cards are for local restaurants and Pro Feet shoe store. For more information, call the BI athletic office at 368-6123.

YMCA Xbox Madden
NFL 2009 Challenge

The Liberty County YMCA is hosting Madden NFL 2009-10 Xbox 360 online tournaments. The first tournament is scheduled for Aug. 1. Registration is $15 and you can register at the YMCA.

FPCA softball camp scheduled

FPCA softball camp is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, July 28-Thursday, July 30, at the James Brown Park softball fields. Camp instructors will be FPCA varsity players, parents and FPCA staff members. There is no charge for camp and all FPCA softball players are encouraged to attend. Practice routines will be put in place.

Season schedules and uniform requirements will be reviewed at camp. Rain out location is at Stafford Pavilion (next to Hinesville pool).
