Hank White Scholarship

The 7th annual Henry “Hank” White Golf Tournament is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Aug. 6, at the Cherokee Rose Golf Club in Hinesville.
The tournament format is a four-man scramble and prizes will be awarded for first through third place, longest drive, longest putt, straight drive and closest to the pin on holes 3 and 17. Participants have a chance to win two new cars for a hole-in-one.
The prize for acing No. 3 is a 2011 Ford F-150. A hole-in-one on No. 13 will win a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma Extra Cab. Additional prizes will be awarded during the awards ceremony and dinner will be served after the tournament.  
The entry fee is $200 per team or $50 per person.  The registration deadline is July 30.

Liberty YMCA flag football

Flag football registration is under way at the Liberty County YMCA for ages 3-13. The season begins Aug. 13.

Fall baseball at Bradwell

Fall baseball begins at 9 a.m. Aug. 6 at Bradwell Institute’s baseball field. All interested players are encouraged to attend to practice and review information about upcoming games.

Lady Panther tryouts

Lady Panthers softball tryouts will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 1. Everyone participating must have a current school physical.

Long County rec department

Registration for football and cheerleading will continue through Aug. 8, at the Long County Recreation Department. Football is open for kids ages 7-12 and cheerleading is open for ages 5-12. LCRD youth football and cheerleading

Registration will be conducted Aug. 1-19 for youth football and cheerleading at the Liberty County Recreation Department.
The program is for 7-12 year olds. Age is determined as of Sept. 1, 2011. Football age groups are: flag football for 7-8 year olds and tackle football for 9-10 and 11-12 year olds. Weight restrictions apply to the 9-10 and 11-12 year old divisions. Cost is $20 per child. All equipment is provided except pants for tackle football players. Teams will be formed in Midway, Walthourville, Riceboro and Gum Branch, if there are enough participants. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. LCRD youth soccer registration

Registration for youth soccer at the Liberty County Recreation Department will be conducted August 1-19. This program is for ages 4-17, as of Aug. 1, 2011. The fee is $20 per child. Games will be played on weekday evenings at James A. Brown Park, starting in late September. Registration deadline is August 19. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. Register now for fall baseball, softball

Registration for fall baseball and softball at the Liberty County Recreation Department will be conducted Aug. 1-26. Age divisions are 7-8 Machine Pitch, 9-10 Machine Pitch, and 11-12 Live Pitch leagues. The age cut-off date is May 1, 2012. The program will be conducted in September and October. The fee is $45 per child. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams.

After school program open at Liberty Rec.

Registration is now underway for the 2011/2012 After School Program at the Liberty County Recreation Department. For children in kindergarten through 5th grade, this program will provide a safe and fun after-school alternative to day care. Daily activities include transportation from school, snack, recreational activities, study time and more.
The cost for the program is $45 per week with a limited number of slots available. Call 876-5359 for additional information.
