“Pig-paddy” party for Erk

The Midway-based Coastal Eagle Club, a Georgia Southern University alumni organization, is planning a “Pig-Paddy Party” to raise funds to build a life-size statue of coach Erk Russell. Tickets are $20 and include food, music, beverages, a chance to win $5,000 and the opportunity to mingle with the entire GSU coaching staff. The event is scheduled for May 27. Annual Tiger Tee-Off on tap

The annual Tiger Tee-Off Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Harvey Overton Bradwell Boosters Club, is at 1:30 p.m. June 11 at the Cherokee Rose Country Club. The fee is $50 per person, $200 per team in a four-person scramble format. Walking for scholarships

Georgia Coastal Youth Inc. and Seven Ministries will sponsor a walk-a-thon to raise funds for The Jackie Gilliard-Henderson Memorial Scholarship.
The funds will benefit deserving seniors from Bradwell Institute and Liberty County High who want to further their education. The event is slated to start at 6:30 a.m. May 21. The seven-mile trek will start and end in the parking lot of the Bradwell baseball field.

YMCA offers programs

The Liberty County YMCA is currently registering for the following programs:
• Soccer league, ages 11-14, registration ends May 22.
• T-Ball league, ages 3-7 registration ends Monday.
• Soccer camp, ages 5-14, camp will be held June 13-17.
• Football camp, ages 5-14, camp will be held June 20-24
• Basketball camp ages 5-14, camp will be held June 27-30

Summer Slam in July

The annual Summer Slam event is scheduled for July 3 at Salter’s Field, and event director Ernie Walthour is accepting applications for food vendors and musicians/bands.
The gates will open at
1 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. The daylong event will feature a music contest at 3 p.m., car and motorcycle show at 4 p.m. and live music at 5 p.m. Evening headliners include Dirty Dollars, Milkk Mann and Fame Entertainment’s Lil Bun.

Sign up for summer camp

Registration is under way for the St. James summer day camp, which starts June 1 and will be open from 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. The camp is closed on all holidays. The fee is $50 per week.
The camp is open to children ages 5-14. Activities will include swimming, bowling, basketball, soccer, kickball and weekly field trips. For more information, call 980-4559 or 884-3016.
