Bradwell Tigers off this week

 

The Bradwell Tigers have a bye week. They return to the gridiron to begin region play next Friday at Groves. The Tigers are currently 2-1.

Team Hinesville needs sponsors

 

Team Hinesville’s weightlifting team is seeking donations for upcoming trips to the Quebec Junior Championship.

World-ranked Olympic weightlifter Jenna Bussard, coach of Team Hinesville, said participants pay their own expenses so she is always eager to accept donations to help Team Hinesville. If you would like to make a donation, call her at 429-0931.

Fountain of Youth Kickball tournament is Oct. 24

 

Fountain of Youth, in conjunction with End
Zone Athletics, will have an inaugural Monster Coed Kickball Tournament on Oct. 24, at Paulson softball complex in Savannah. The tournament is an all-day event. Teams must have 15 players with a minimum of six women per team. Individuals may register to be placed on teams. Participants must be at least 18 years old. The fee is $25 per player. All teams are guaranteed three games.

Corporate teams and sponsors are welcome. Costumes are optional, but welcome. Prizes will be awarded for the top teams, team spirit, the best theme and the best costume. For more information, call 302-7015 or go to www.myspace.com/endzonefootball.

 

Annual Shawnee McGowan Memorial Junior Rodeo

The fourth annual Shawnee McGowan Memorial Junior Rodeo will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the N.C. Ranch in Ludowici. There will be a bicycle giveaway, food, prizes, games and a toy scramble. For information, call 545-9542.

 

After-school program

 

The St. James Center is accepting registration for its free after-school program, which includes homework assistance for children enrolled in kindergarten-sixth grade. Chain fall baseball high school player showcase

 

The Savannah Chain Baseball Academy is hosting a high school player showcase for juniors and seniors Saturday, Sept. 19, at Chain Field in Garden City. Former Cincinnati Reds scout supervisor Steve Kring, who has more than 35 years of scouting experience, and other pro scouts will manage the showcase.

Registration is from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and the workout starts at 10. The game will be played at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20. The fee is $40. This is an aluminum bat showcase. For more information, call (912) 352-8466 or go to www.chainbaseball.com.
