“To be as involved as you can be is my vision for seniors,” the new pastor of Hinesville First Baptist Church  told members of the Goldenheirs at their April meeting.

“There’s still much for seniors to do,” the Rev. Roy Broughman said.

He has been at the church since last fall, and he and his wife Stacy were guests of Goldenheirs last month. She encouraged seniors to participate in children’s ministries.

Pastor Broughman talked about having purpose.

“Our purpose is to glorify God and support the great commission (found in Matthew) as best we can,” he said. “We exist to glorify God and tell the good news of Christ our Lord to all the world.”

Goldenheirs is a senior group that meets the first Tuesday of each month in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church. All seniors are invited to the lunch at noon, followed by a program. Club president George Laseter said Stephen Bene from the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home and Ministries in Baxley was to present the May program.
