LUDOWICI - Want to prepare a new main entrée' like Beth's Stove Top Seafood Quiche or maybe a new desert like Anna Poole's Coconut Pie?
If you do, all you need is a copy of the "Favorite Recipes from the Long County Library" cookbook.
According to library Manager Lisa Dubberly, she and her staff gathered more than 300 recipes from local people and put the book together to pass on some of Long County's "down home cooking" to others.
"A lot of people are coming into our area, and with Fort Stewart getting even more troops, we're going to get even more here," Dubberly said. "This cookbook is a way to share some of our favorite recipes with these folks, and preserve some of our local tradition.
The cookbooks have appetizers, main entrees, baked bread, deserts, and much more."
If anyone is interested in buying a book, they are available at the library, the Ludowici Drugstore and Claudine's Beauty Salon.
"The cookbooks are $10, and all the money from sales will go to the library," Dubberly said.
According to Dubberly, the library will also put together a community birthday/anniversary calendar over the next six months.
For purchasing a calendar, anyone can have up to five dates put inside.
"You can put birthdays of kids, grandparents, yourself or anyone," Dubberly said. "Yu also can put in anniversaries, and you get up to five for buying one calendar.
"If someone wants to put more than five dates in it, that's fine, they just have to purchase a second calendar."
Proceeds from the calendar will also go to the library.
