The Medical Department Activity at Fort Stewart celebrated the grand opening of the newly expanded Refill Pharmacy during an Aug. 21 ceremony at the new location.
Last month, the PX Refill Pharmacy moved from the Main Post Exchange to the food court, next to the Fort Stewart Furniture Store. The new storefront is three-times larger than the previous space and also includes an additional customer service window.
“We in the pharmacy recognized a long time ago that our previous space in the PX was too small to meet the growing demands for medications,” Department of Pharmacy Chief Lt. Col. William Starnes said. “The limited space hampered our ability to improve our service and better meet those demands.”
The discussion about moving to a larger space began nearly three years ago, Starnes said, but it wasn’t until last year that it became a reality. Once the location was determined, everything moved quickly and the old pharmacy was disassembled and reassembled in the new location in less than 48 hours.
The Refill Pharmacy is open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday for patients picking up prescription refills. It is at 112 Vilseck Road, building 419, on Fort Stewart.
