Those who hate drinking water may have a suitable replacement on their hands in the near future.

Skipping Rocks Lab recently developed the Ooho, which is an edible water bottle that comes from biodegradable brown algae.

Not only does this water bottle of the future aim to encourage people to drink more water, but it also helps cut down on plastic bottles and waste since its environmentally friendly, Mashable reported.

The consumption of non-renewable resources for single-use bottles and the amount of waste generated is profoundly unsustainable. The aim of Ooho is to provide the convenience of plastic bottles while limiting the environmental impact, the companys website reads.

Those interested will have to wait, though. According to the company's website, the Ooho is only sold at company events, which have been held in London, San Francisco and Boston.

You can schedule an Ooho event appearance on the companys website.

Unlike water bottles, though, the Ooho only has a few days of shelf life.

According to Fast Company, the edible water bottles taste and feel like Jell-O.

Flavors could be added eventually, Fast Company reported.

To eat it, people can just eat the entire package, or peel off the top layer, since its very much like a fruit, Pierre Paslier, co-founder of Skipping Rocks Lab, told Fast Company.

When people try it for the first time, they want to eat it because its part of the experience, he said. Then it will be just like the peel of a fruit. Youre not expected to eat the peel of your orange or banana. We are trying to follow the example set by nature for packaging.

Paslier said he hopes to see the edible bottle of water at more events in the near future.

Where we see a lot of potential for Ooho is outdoor events festivals, marathons, places where basically there are a lot of people consuming packaging over a very short amount of time, he said.

The company is also working on a coffee machine-like device for the future.
